Calotype
Calotype - Calotype print - Talbotype |
Calotype is a 19th-century photographic process and one of the methods for creating negative-positive prints. In this process, photosensitive paper is used to create a negative image. The paper is coated with silver nitrate solution and then treated with potassium iodide. This coated paper is exposed in a camera and then transferred onto another photosensitive paper to obtain a positive print. The advantage of the calotype lies in its ability to produce multiple positive prints from a single negative and its natural, soft tones. However, this process can sometimes result in a slightly grainy appearance due to discernible scan lines.
