Platinotype print

Platinotype print - Platinum print

Platinum print, also known as platinotype, is a photographic printing process characterized by its unique tonal range and archival permanence. In this process, a light-sensitive solution containing platinum and palladium metals is applied to paper. A negative is placed in contact with the treated paper, and the combination is exposed to light. After exposure, the paper is developed and then fixed using chemical solutions. The resulting print displays a wide range of tones from deep blacks to subtle grays and highlights, giving it a distinct and luxurious appearance. Platinum prints are renowned for their rich tonality, fine detail, and exceptional longevity. Due to the rarity and expense of platinum, platinum prints are considered highly collectible and are often associated with fine art photography.
