Initially known as a model for many prominent artists of her time, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Valadon later gained recognition for her own artistic talents. She began painting in the Impressionist style before developing her distinctive Post-Impressionist approach characterized by bold colors and strong lines. Valadon often depicted scenes of everyday life, portraits, and still lifes, infusing them with a sense of intimacy and emotional depth. She was one of the few female artists of her generation to achieve widespread acclaim and success in the male-dominated art world of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
